Integrated Perspectives on Health
Integrated Perspectives on Health (MAU FC 01)
Duration: 3 months
Fees: £1500
This course explores concepts of health and health experiences as influenced by contemporary socio-political and economic processes, structures and policies as well as professional health ideologies and the ‘lay’ perspective. The shifting boundaries between individual and collective responsibility for health are contextualised within the current economic recession and recent health challenges such as AIDS and the H1N1 pandemic. There will be opportunities to critically examine the methodological perspectives and methods used in health care research and the shifting dynamic between ‘need’ and ‘demand’ as medical technology advances.
The course commences in October 2020.
One three hour lecture a week and supported distance learning.
